The Wonder of the Incarnation

Text: John 1:14–18
Speaker: Ryan Wentzel
Date: December 25, 2016

This coming Sunday we will be considering the Incarnation of the Son of God.  In the busyness of this time of year it can be easy to lose sight of the wonder of the Word becoming flesh (John 1:14) for us and for our salvation.  My hope is that as we consider what John has to say about the Incarnation in John 1:14–18 we will be moved to worship our Savior.

Standing in Grace

Text: 1 Peter 5:12-14
Speaker: Craig Marshall
Date: December 18, 2016

In this sermon we will finish our study of 1 Peter.  As Peter closes out his letter he reminds us of several key themes he has expounded.  We’ll see together how the gospel changes our view of people, our view of our place, and our view of grace.

To prepare to hear this message, it would be great to read back over as much of the letter as you are able.  If you don’t have time for the whole book, re-reading chapter 1 and 5 would be particularly helpful.

Exhortations to Sufferers

Date: December 11, 2016

We are nearing the end of our study of 1 Peter. In this week’s passage, Peter gives a series of exhortations aimed at helping us live faithfully for Christ in difficult times.  We’ll consider together the exhortations to humbly trust God, to be on guard against the devil, and to persevere in hope.

In preparation for for listening to this sermon, please read 1 Peter 5:1–11.

Shepherded Sufferers

Text: 1 Peter 5:1-5
Speaker: Craig Marshall
Date: December 4, 2016

Throughout his letter Peter has been reminding us that suffering in this life is to take place within a context of love and one-another care in the local church.  In the passage for this sermon, he shows us the role church leadership is to have in our care, as well how all of us are to be responding to each other in humility.

In preparation for listening to this sermon, please read 1 Peter 5:1-5.  It will be helpful to review 2:21-25.
