Servant Leadership

What makes a great leader.  Our nation is looking for governmental leaders.  Churches need leaders.  Our church is in the process of seeking another elder/pastor to help shepherd and feed this flock.  What qualities matter most?  Jesus’ disciples were often guilty of seeing leadership in a worldly way (Luke 22:24).  They wanted to be powerful and highly respected.

In John 13 Jesus demonstrates how authority should be used.  John records Jesus’ state of mind that He is fully aware of the exalted place the Father has given Him.  With this in mind He washes His disciples feet.  This act of service is both a picture of His work of saving us and an example of how we should serve one another.

Please read John 13 in preparation for listening to this sermon.
