The Virtuous Wife (and Mother)

This Sunday I will be preaching from Proverbs 31. I realize that for some mothers this is a hard text which can produce a lot of guilt. Well meaning preachers may have brought more discouragement than blessing to many mothers on Mothers Day. My desire is to offer encouragement to the moms in our congregation in that our virtue is found in Christ, and that Christ is working His virtue in us (even if the progress isn’t as outstanding and rapid as we would like for it to be). I also plan to offer some exhortation to husband and children as to how specifically we can be a blessing to our wives and mothers.

Finally, we realize that Mothers Day can be hard for those women among us with no children, wayward children, or other difficult family circumstances. My prayer is that you too will find hope in Christ Who is our Wisdom and our Virtue.
