Philippians 2

Most sermons from this chapter tend to focus upon the humiliation of the Lord Jesus in His Incarnation and the extreme example of service and self-denial that He sets for His followers. I am taking the lesser known “back half” which chronicles some of the faithful service and testimony of Timothy and Epaphroditus with regard to their labors directed to Paul, to Christ, and to His church. Their lives and faithfulness were indeed remarkable.

Today we will see practical examples of “service and self-denial” as we consider the lives of these two stalwarts in the faith. Be reminded that we have been blessed even in this present day by their efforts of so long ago. Consider anew your own efforts and energies towards Kingdom work and the legacy you hope to leave behind when this earthly sojourn ends.
